Okay so first of all the dog is called Bowie, awesome.
Second of all he is a rocket engineer, amazing.

Third of all.......

....he is super bloody cute...

We asked the filmmaker some questions about the project.
London Lift-Off opens with Rocket by Jennifer Sheridan.

So after creating Rocket how do you think the project went overall; would you agree with W.C Fields where he famously said "Never work with animals or children. ..." ?
Bowie is luckily really easy to work with. I trained him when he was just a pup and as long as you make it into a game he's up for it. Plus he's always liked playing with rubbish.

How did Bowie take to the pressures of being on set like going through his preparations during hair and makeup?
It's Bowies hair that takes the longest prep time. He likes his quiff a certain way. Also because Bowies fur has brown, grey, blonde, black and Ginger in it his highlights are impossible to get right.

In all seriousness, one thing that struck our judges was the quality of the cut, and the linking and choice of the music. Was this something you have a strong background in?
Thank you very much. I've been a freelance editor for the last five years and I absolutely love it. The music was wonderfully composed by Cato Hoeben who also did the sound design and in my opinion it wasn't really a film until he put his hand to it.

What was the film shot on?
The film was shot on a 5D mark ii. Good ol DSLR!

Has it been entered into any other festivals yet and how has it been received?
It's been entered into the Zero film festival in Toronto where it was well received by my Canadian relatives! -- Also into Virgin Media Shorts. It didn't get into the shortlist, but it had many positive comments from viewers.

On a scale of one to ten how happy do you think Bowie is about Rocket getting into the festival?
I think Bowie is happy beyond words about getting into the London Lift Off Festival. He really hasn't been able to talk since he found out, or before that. It's quite extraordinary but he is speechless.

We'll take that as an eleven.   :)

If you were to-do anything differently, what would you have done?
In hindsight I think Rocket is 20 seconds too long and the focus is all over the shop, but I've been told that's adds to the charm for some.

Do you have any advise for any filmmaker out there wanting to get a project off of the ground?
Advice for filmmakers, keep it simple don't over complicate the story. Start rolling and enjoy it. If your not having fun ask yourself what your doing with your life and then move to Australia and become a surfing instructor.
